The India of Communal Violence

I completely fail to understand what kind of anger can let you burn down police vans, shops and houses and what kind of religion teaches you to kill, to throw stones, to hate, to begin and support violence?
The incidents of Basirhat, the Junaid Khan incident, stone pelting in Kashmir and other mob lynching are shame to us as a society.
Who are we to protect our religion and to argue for it?
Religion came into existence to enhance the society , living standards and peace but it has failed terribly. It ended up igniting hatred, anger and violence!
Can a facebook post or a speech stand against a religion having a history and glory of thousands of years, having millions of followers? 
No, it cannot!
So, why to indulge in violence and to burn down people and things around? Why are we degrading as a society, as a human being, as a culture and why hatred and violence is taking hold of our thinking, our actions?
No one will answer these for you so answer them for yourself.
